Two big events from the CIU Faculty of Law

The CIU Faculty of Law, which has made a name for itself with its quality education, academic staff and scientific meetings, is organizing two more big events.

The event titled “Symposium on Legal Issues Caused by the Coronavirus Outbreak,” will be held online on 12th November 2020, and participation is open to anyone for this online event. The event will take place with mutual presentations from the CIU Faculty of Law academic staff and the Özyeğin Faculty of Law academic staff.

Stating that they have been holding joint scientific activities with Özyeğin University for four years, the CIU Faculty of Law Vice Dean and member of the symposium organization board, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şölen Külahçı, said that they have been carrying out new studies on the development of these relations.

The First Comparative TRNC and Turkish Laws study on the Corona Virus

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Külahçı pointed out that the symposium to be held is the first comparative study of the TRNC and Turkish Laws in relation to the Corona Virus, and stated that it is an important study regarding the determination of the legal problems created by the corona virus in the TRNC and Turkey, and the proposal for solutions.

Another event to be organized by the CIU Faculty of Law, within the framework of the VI. Comparative Law Symposium is the student seminar to be held between 13-14 November. Providing information about the seminar, Külahçı said that they have been holding a comparative student seminar with Özyeğin University during the fall and spring semesters for four years, and reminded that during these seminars, students made presentations about the Republic of Turkey and TRNC Laws.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Külahçı emphasized that the study was unique among the TRNC universities and stated that the students showed great interest in the seminar.

Pointing out that the most important feature of the seminar is that the students explain the results of their own research, Külahçı added that the students gained experience in both making presentations and research methods.
