Stating that as in the rest of the world, energy consumption is on the increase day by day in our country, Ersoy noted that population growth and the increase in individual energy needs are the main reasons for this.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Ersoy stated that the increase in energy consumption requires an increase in energy production and the related investments.

“It is important to raise public awareness in relation to energy saving”.
Pointing out that the most effective way to reduce energy consumption is via energy saving efforts, Ersoy went on to advise that it is important to raise public awareness on this issue.

Providing information about the areas in lighting where energy savings can be made, Ersoy elaborated, “Daylight should be used as much as possible. Traditional incandescent bulbs should be replaced with energy efficient bulbs, such as compact fluorescent or LED. In this way energy savings of up to 80 percent can be achieved. Sensor lighting also saves energy”.

Reminding that a significant portion of energy consumption in homes is consumed by electrical household appliances, Ersoy went on to say, “For this reason, electronic devices that provide energy efficiency (A / A + / A ++ class) should be used. More than 60 percent difference in energy consumption difference can be realized between high-efficiency and low-efficiency devices”.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Ersoy emphasized that actions such as opening the doors of household appliances such as refrigerators, freezers and ovens frequently increases energy consumption, and emphasized that washing machines and dishwashers should be fully loaded when utilized and that the economic cycle and low temperature programs should be preferred as much as possible.

Pointing out that we should make it a habit to turn off computers and plugs that are not in use, Ersoy advised that by adjusting air conditioners to a comfortable temperature as opposed to setting it to lower or higher temperatures than the necessary, waiting for the ambient air to reach the desired temperature with its own control system will in turn reduce energy consumption.
