Information meeting on Coronavirus

Cyprus International University (CIU) held an informative meeting on Coronavirus, which is on the agenda of the world, for its students and employees.

The first session of the event held at the CIU Çevik Uraz Center Conference Hall for students, and in the afternoon session, employees were informed.

The information meeting was held in English and Turkish by the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Seyer and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ender Volkan Çınar.

Speaking at the event, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Seyer pointed out that there is a new virus and a new epidemic, and the necessity of the measures to be taken against the virus without panic.

She underlined that they are in cooperation with health authorities as CIU, and added that they aim to raise awareness of students and employees with accurate information.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Seyer also gave information about the symptoms of COVID-19, the current number of cases, mortality rate, routes of transmission, ways of protection and what can be done in case of a potentially suspicious case: “The use of masks, the importance of hand and respiratory hygiene, especially in detail, are addressed and frequently made mistakes on these issues are emphasized.”

Providing information about the measures taken by the university administration within this framework, Seyer highlighted that the road and the phone numbers to be contacted are shared with the participants, an informative brochure is distributed and necessary measures are taken in the buses.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Çınar, who spoke at the event, said, on the other hand, the importance of getting the correct information based on scientific data, even though the new Coronavirus epidemic, which affects many countries, is not yet available in our country. “It will be beneficial to avoid the elements that contain fear to protect ourselves and our loved ones, and to obtain correct information about what we can do to protect against the symptoms of the disease,” said Çınar.
