The seminar, which was organized online due to the COVID-19 outbreak across the world, was moderated by Ezgi Meşe, while CIU Faculty of Engineering Vice Dean, Assist. Prof. Dr. Kamil Yurtkan provided information in relation to Artificial Intelligence Applications in Engineering.

Stating that the topic of artificial intelligence was put forward by Alan Turing during the 1940s with the question "Can machines think?", Assist Prof. Dr. Kamil Yurtkan noted that today, artificial intelligence has evolved with advanced methods, such as artificial neural networks.

During the seminar, Yurtkan provided information in relation to concepts used in artificial intelligence and its subfields today, such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, pattern recognition, and computer vision, and made further statements by giving examples of today's artificial intelligence applications.

Drawing attention to the fact that artificial intelligence is applied in every field of engineering, Yurtkan went on to say, “Selected applications such as Building Modeling, Face Recognition and Autonomous driving are found in various fields of engineering, such as Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering and Bioengineering, are some examples in this area”.

CIU Faculty of Engineering is engaging in Artificial Intelligence Applications
Stating that at the CIU Faculty of Engineering they are also carrying out some works, Yurtkan elaborated "Diagnosis of Brain Hemorrhage Using Deep Learning Methods" and "Estimating Air Pollution in the Nicosia Area with Artificial Neural Networks" are examples.

Explaining that artificial intelligence has existing applications such as autonomous driving, building modeling, and robots in housework, Assist. Prof. Dr. Yurtkan shared information in relation to artificial intelligence applications that are expected to enter our lives in the near future and gave advice to students who are planning to study in the field of engineering in higher education.
