11 awards recipient CIU back from GASTROANTALYA

Students from the School of Tourism and Hotel Management, Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts were awarded 11 medals in many different categories at the GASTROANTALYA 2022 Gastronomy Food Competition held in Antalya.
Our students were also deemed worthy of the special jury award, a trophy, because of their professional stance and positive discipline as well as their outstanding achievements during the competition

7 students from the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts participated in the competition, which was held with the cooperation of CIU, The World Association of Chefs' Societies (WACS)
and Mediterranean Chefs Club Association (ASKDER), and in coordination with Instructor Kardelen Üntaç and Instructor İbrahim Kızıltaç.

CIU finished with 11 total medals: that's 2 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze. 

CIU School of Tourism and Hotel Management Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Uludağ provided information about the competition, noting that students competed in the main dish, seafood platter, dessert plate, university team competition and the golden young chef of the year categories.  He said that “Taha Doğan won the gold medal, Dilara Üntaç the silver medal and Emirhan Aksaç the bronze medal in the restaurant dessert plate category”.
 
Emirhan Aksaç won the gold medal in the main dish category while Mehmet Güvener won the silver, and Helin Ürer the bronze medal in the same category. However, in the seafood platter category, Helin Ürer was awarded the silver medal.  

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uludağ stated that his students Mehmetcan Karaş, Tuğrul Harmanşa and Dilara Üntaç won bronze medals in the Best University Team of the Year category, while Mehmet Güvener, who competed in the Golden Young Chef of the Year category, also won the bronze medal.
