The aim of this program is to train academic staff in the field of Tourism Management. This program proposes to train individuals who aim to specialize in the field of tourism management and who want to enrich themselves in the labor intensive sector and to train individuals to contribute to the tourism literature. Its is known that qualified academics are required in the field of Tourism and Hospitality. The Ph.D. program in Tourism Management is an enriched program designed to fill this gap. The objective of this program is to present the theoretical and practical methods related to Tourism and Management in the proposed Tourism Management Doctorate program with a holistic approach and to create an educational network based on cooperation between the academic world and tourism sector. Students will gain knowledge about how international tourism knowledge and skills can be applied within the framework of ethical rules.
Students undertake a total of 7 Ph.D. courses in order to graduate from the Tourism Management Doctorate program. When students enroll they may register up to 4 courses per semester in thesis program. Two of the seven courses in the program are compulsory, where the rest of the courses are elective). Students register to the program with the assistance of their advisors. Advisors guide students throughout the program. Library and Institute provide online and offline access to databases. Program advisors appoint a supervisor when students enroll to thesis/project. Students utilize variety of databases to complete their thesis or project. Students are encouraged produce quality work to contribute to the literature of tourism and hospitality. Graduates are expected to produce at least one publication indexed in SSCI. Cyprus International University, School of Tourism and Hotel Management accredited by the German accreditation body of FIBAA.
The Ph.D. program in Tourism Management is a program where students wish to specialize in the area of Tourism and Hotel Management field. Tourism Management Ph.D. program aims to contribute to the Tourism and Hospitality Literature by using the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary structure of tourism and to train a doctor instructor within the framework of the ethical rules. The most distinguishing feature of this proposed program is to create an effective leader in the academic field of tourism and to educate well-equipped individuals in human relations. Graduates are granted a Ph.D. degree. Graduates can find job opportunities in universities, educational institutions, techno-parks, international consultancy companies.
