Purpose and Vision
The Center was established in 2013 with the aim of providing scientific and academic studies
focused on the island of Cyprus and the Mediterranean region, ensuring that further studies
in these areas are reached by the students and academics of the university.
Furthermore, it is aimed to cooperate with institutions engaged in similar activities and
especially to assist graduate and PhD students in their studies.
The center focuses mainly on political science, international relations, sociology, conflict
resolution and economics.
The main topics of interest at the center are Cyprus politics and economy, the Cyprus
problem, Eastern Mediterranean energy policies, Mediterranean-Southern European politics and
economics, Turkish-Greek relations and migration.
In addition to the empirical research the center has conducted, the Center for Cyprus and
Mediterranean Studies regularly organizes seminars, workshops and panels to bring together
academics, researchers from abroad, graduate and doctoral students. The center aims to
establish an academic archive and information center with a particular focus on Cyprus in
the future.
