Gender equality and leadership examined within the context of tourism

Arkın İskele Hotel Human Resources Director Dilem Dana drew attention to gender equality and leadership issues at the seminar titled "Modern Dilemma: Women in Leadership Roles" organized in cooperation with Cyprus International University (CIU), School of Tourism and Hotel Management and  the Tourism Club affiliated with the Student Development and Counseling Center  functioning under the Student Clubs Coordination Office responsible for  conducting Social Activities
Speaking at the event held at CIU, Çevik Uraz Conference Hall, Dana stated that women face many difficulties in  leadership roles in their businesses and underlined the difficulties they face, especially based on gender.
While giving information about what can be done about the inequality faced by female managers in the context of gender equality, Dana pointed out the importance of workplaces creating a more inclusive and fair work environment.
Dana also emphasized that there are measures that especially businesses can take in this regard, and noted that not only women but also businesses have responsibilities to undertake in this regard.
The seminar not only provided participants with the opportunity to understand leadership barriers within the scope of gender equality, but also provided an interactive platform, allowing students to share their views.
At the end of the seminar, CIU School of Tourism and Hotel Management Director Prof. Dr. Orhan Uludağ stated that, as a university and school, they attach importance to gender equality and that they strive to make students consider gender equality as  an indispensable component of culture so that they can develop awareness within this context.
The Seminar ended with Prof. Dr. Uludağ presenting a certificate of appreciation to Dilem Dana.
