Prof. Dr. Muhittin Tuş, a Faculty Member of Faculty of Education, at Cyprus International University (CIU), announced that August 30 Victory Day, which has an important place in the history of the Republic of Turkey, was the last step of the efforts for national liberation which started in Samsun in 1919.

Tus recalled that it is the 97th anniversary of the Great Offensive which ended with a victory under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, on 30 August 1922 in Dumlupınar. He also said that they celebrate this day proudly.

Prof. Dr. Muhittin Tuş said that the Victory of August 30 is a continuation of a tradition.

“Mustafa Kemal led his nation to victory, after fighting for ten years, where even 15-year-olds had to fight for their country, ” he said.

Prof. Dr. Tuş recalled the quotes, “Even during the invasion of Istanbul ‘they will go as they come’ and that August 30 is the victory of those who said and believed that they will succeed."

Prof. Dr. Tuş drew attention that August is the month of victories. This tradition started at Malazgirit in 1071 and continued until Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

Tuş added that the Victory of August 30 was the gift of Gazi Mustafa Kemal to the Turkish nation.
