The opening of the Computer Science Club for the 2019-2020 Academic Year was held under the leadership of Tafadzwanashe Vaki, Computer Engineering Department student and a member of the club affiliated to the Social Activities Coordination Office of the Student Development and Counseling Center within Cyprus International University (CIU). New students were informed about the past and upcoming activities of the club as part of the event.
Dean of the CIU Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Derviş Zihni Deniz, Vice Dean of the Engineering Faculty, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kamil Yurtkan, Head of Computer Engineering Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Devrim Seral, the Director of the Web Site Design and Development, Digital Communications Company Innovia Digital, Ali Tüzünkan and the members of the club, students and academics attended to the opening of the club.
At the opening event, Prof. Dr. Derviş Zihni Deniz stated that it is beneficial for the personal and professional development of the students to take part in such activities to advise students to support their education with extracurricular activities.
Ali Tüzünkan, invited by the CIU Computer Science Club, gave information about the latest products developed by digital companies and talked about intelligence applications including Blockchain, 5G, and Chatbot.
With the development of technology in the future, the need for more knowledgeable people will be essential, said Tüzünkan and added that the students need to put their differences forward and follow the innovations to be able to take part in the industry
Asst. Prof. Dr. Devrim Seral pointed out the importance of students' participation in club activities and suggested that they develop these aspects with a philosophy of lifelong learning.
At the end, the participants were reminded that the Computer Science Club has been established to organize seminars, technical trips and other social activities useful for information-related programs within the university. Seral explained that they organized this activity in order to inform the students about the club.
