The finalists of the slogan competition, which was held in July called “Speak up for a Sustainable Environment” was organized to raise awareness on global environment pollution in co-operation with Cyprus International University (CIU) and the Ministry of National Education of Turkish Republic.
As a result of the voting of “Speak up for Sustainable Environment”, Dilşah Aynur Çoşkun (Hatay), Yağmur Çaparali (Hatay), Melek Kaya (Isparta), Anıl Yörük (Muğla), Halis Çakmak (İstanbul), Melek Çatal (Gaziantep), Ömer Faruk Taş (Kocaeli), Zühal Arabacı (Karabük), Muhammed Emir Yeninar (Kahramanmaraş) and Aytuğ Öksüz (Hatay) won awards according to the information provided by CIU Directorate of Promotion.
In the competition, where Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emrah Erkurt, CIU Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Hikmet Seçim, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Prof. Dr. Rana Kıdak, Head of the Environmental Engineering Department were jury members, the 30 semi-finalists were presented to the public voting through the CIU corporate Facebook social media account between 07-11 August.
As a result of the public voting on social media, the 10 finalists, aged between 15 and 17, had the chance to participate in as a guest to the 2-week English Language Education and Sustainable Environment Project held in CIU.
The finalists attended English Language courses from 09.00-13.00 on weekdays at the university campus between 18-31 August and they were doing workshops within the scope of the Environment project.
According to the statement made by the Directorate of Promotion, the finalists will be presented English proficiency certificates and attendance/award documents with a ceremony to be held at the end of the 2 weeks of English Language training.
