World's First Place awarded to CIU

The Cyprus International University (CIU) masterplan, which filled our country with pride by making it to the final four, has succeeded in winning “World's First Place” at the “MIPIM 2021” award ceremony, which was awaited by all with excitement and curiosity, that was held on the 8th September at the Palais des Festivals Grand Auditorium in Cannes.

Since 2017, our university has been working on a masterplan for transforming the CIU campus with ARUP which is a world-renowned engineering, urban design and architectural company, responsible for such iconic projects. ARUP brought the first prize to the CIU for the second time.

In 2020, CIU won first place at the “Architecture, Construction and Design Awards 2020”, within the Urban Design (Built) category, proving that in addition to its strong academic program, it is also a strong campus university. CIU has now achieved in marking its place by first being shortlisted as one of the top 4 projects within the “Best Cultural and Sports Infrastructure” category at the “MIPIM 2021” awards that are organized by MIPIM, an institution that evaluates world investments across different prominent sectors, and then by achieving first place at the finals that were held on the 8th September.

MIPIM, which has been awarding successful projects across the world since 1991, made their selection of the “Best” on the basis of 50/50 voting by the MIPIM jury and delegates, and in turn made our country proud by taking place on this platform. By continuing the campus masterplan in a number of other areas in the future, CIU aims to bring many more awards to our country
