Student Registrations for the Graduate Program of Social Work Started

Enrollment for the graduate program of Social Work with thesis within the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research at Cyprus International University (CIU) has started.

Head of Department of Social Work, CIU Faculty of Health Sciences, Assist. Prof. Dr. Afet Arkut stated that social work is a profession that aims to increase the well-being of individuals, families, groups, and society through the empowerment and support of people in solving problems, and the need for social service has steadily increased with the increase of social problems in recent years.

In this context, Master of Social Work program was opened to protect the values of the individual, family, and society and to train researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, individual and social workers sensitive to social problems. The student admissions were announced to begin in the 2019-2020 Spring Semester.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Arkut said the program is approved by the Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination Board (YÖDAK). Students can apply in-person from the CIU Institute of Graduate Studies and Research or online.

It was also underlined that the medium of instruction for the program is English. The graduates of this program may work in national and international public institutions, or private sector or non-governmental organizations with the aim of social welfare services.

Graduates of the program can also apply to the academic staff positions at the Social Work departments of the universities and get the chance to pursue an academic career.
