Founded in 1997, Cyprus International University campus is located in the capital city Nicosia. Cyprus lies at the crossroad of countless ancient civilizations over thousands of years. Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) not only has a reputation as one of the safest countries in the world, it also has year-round beautiful Mediterranean weather and the luxury of being rich in natural and cultural beauty. Over the years TRNC has become one of the important destinations for higher education, today hosting students from more than 110 different nationalities. With its untouched natural beauty and endemic flora, as well as golden sandy beaches, the student's academic journey in North Cyprus is a unique experience.

Life as a student in Nicosia

Nicosia is a multicultural city offering students a rich mix of cultural diversity. Students can enjoy the experience of being taken back in history with a chance of visiting more than 100 historical sites from 12 civilizations. During the weekends and school holidays, students can visit unique beaches in Kyrenia, 15 minutes’ drive from Nicosia, and in Famagusta, 45 minutes drive. Ercan international airport is only 15 minutes away from CIU campus.

Cyprus Food and Culture

Cyprus offers a wide range of Mediterranean dishes with year round fresh and healthy alternatives. Affordable produce can be purchased directly from the farmers’ market every Sunday or in any of the supermarkets across the city. With the friendly and hospitable nature of the Cypriot people, communicating and making friends is very easy. Cyprus has one of the highest literacy rates in the world and English is widely spoken, which makes getting out and about to discover the island and what it has to offer is easy and enjoyable experience.

Climate: Cyprus enjoys mostly sunny and warm weather for at least 300 days of the year. Mediterranean climate zone, which Cyprus is a part of, is warm and dry in the summer and mild and with modern rain in the winter. The average annual precipitation is 500 mm. Average temperatures vary between 20-30 ° C in summer and 5-15 ° C in winter.

Electricity: The electricity in TRNC is 220/240V A/C 50Hz and three-pronged plugs are used. Adapters to convert different plugs to three-pronged sockets can easily be found in all supermarkets.

Traffic: The traffic flows from the left lane in North Cyprus. Students who hold an international driving license or valid license for the related vehicle class from their home country are allowed to drive in North Cyprus.
