PROF. DR. MEHMET AL YKSELEN WAS APPOINTED TO THE PRESIDENCY OF CYPRUS INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY

Prof. Dr. an z-Alp was in charge of the presidency of CIU between the dates 2003 and July 2006 and upon the completion of his duty at CIU, Prof. Dr. Nket Saracel, as an acting Rector carried out the duty of presidency for one year and now Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Ykselen has been appointed to the position of presidency at CIU.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Ykselen, who started his job on Monday, 2nd July 2007, had been working in the Faculty of Engineering, Marmara University.

Mehmet Ali Ykselen, who was born in Lefke (Cyprus) in 1967, graduated from Lefkoa Trk Maarif College in 1985. He received his bachelor's degree from St. Louis Civil Engineering, Washington University, in 1989 and his postgraduate degree from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Boazii University, in 1991. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Ykselen, who completed his doctorate degree in the field of environmental technology at the Institute of Environmental Sciences Boazii University in 1995, worked as a research assistant in the Department of Environmental Engineering, Marmara University between the dates 1992 and 1993 and as an instructor between the dates 1993 and 1995.

Mehmet Ali Ykselen who received the titles, assistant professorship in 1995, associate professorship in 1998 and professorship in 2004, worked as a visiting instructor at University College London between the dates 2000 and 2002.

Mehmet Ali Ykselen, who worked in many national and international research projects as a supervisor and a researcher, held the positions of Vice Dean, Department Head, Executive Committee Member, Laboratory Founder and Administrator. Prof. Dr. Ykselen received the Award of Engineering Faculty Dean's Office, Marmara University in 2000, awards of Marmara University Presidency upon his publications in the academic years 1999-2000 and received the Research Award of NATO-CCMS in 2000. Among his field of expertise is water supply and refinement, wastewater refinement and disposal, the rehabilitation of polluted areas and Prof. Dr. Ykselen was in charge of the consultancy of various national and international public and private organizations regarding his field of expertise. Having more than 50 scientific articles and publications which have been cited over 80, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Ykselen has been supervising many master and PhD thesis. Married with a son, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Ykselen has the characteristic of being the youngest University President who has been appointed among the universities in TRNC as well.
