1. Where is CIU Situated? :
The Cyprus International University was established in 1997 in Nicosia the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on the island of Cyprus. Top
2. Academic programs and their Periods at CIU :
There are nine faculties, four higher education departments, and three institutes at CIU. The Grade evaluation system is based on credits. Associate degree periods are 2 years and undergraduate program periods are 4 years. Click here for Course Timetables. Top
3. CIU Recognition and Internal Transfers :
All programs offered by CIU are fully accredited by the (Turkish) Higher Educational Council (YÖK), which gives international recognition to all of the CIU degree programs. CIU Alumni may continue their higher education in Europe, the Middle East, the US, or in Australia. The university also accepts Internal Transfer students. In order to transfer to the university an official transcript and OSYM result documents are required, additionally the student must fill in transition and application forms. When the university evaluates the application forms, the necessary procedures follow.Top
4. Necessary Registration Documents for the 2011-2012 Academic Year :
1. OSS result document pertaining to the academic year and five copies.
2. The original high school diploma, or currently enrolled graduation certificate, and five copies of these documents.
3. A notarised copy of the identity card of the applicant.

5. Twelve new, passport size, photographs.
6. Clearance Form.
7. Male candidates who were born in 1988, or before, must obtain the document stating that ‘there is no objection for this person to register at a university or high school’ from the Military Service.
8. A bank statement showing the necessary tuition fees have been paid for the academic year in question.
9. A Health Report issued by a Republic of Turkey hospital (fully documented by all departments) to include HIV and tuberculosis test results.

5. Fall Semester Students and Course Registration:
- New students’ first registration: 5 September 2011
- Interactive Course Registration: 19-23 September 2011 Top
6. Spring Semester Students and Course Registration :
- New students’ first registration: 6 February 2012
- Interactive Course Registration: 13-17 February 2012 Top
7. Summer Period Course Registration and Class starting date :
- Registration for the Summer Period will start on 21 June 2012 and the last date of registration is 22 June 2012.
- Classes will start on 25 June 2012. Top
8. 2011-2012 Academic Year :
Fall Semester is from 26 September 2011 to 1 February 2012. Spring Semester is from 20 February to 20 June 2012. Summer Period is from 25 June to 22 August 2012. Top
9. Age Restrictions :
There is no age restriction on students registering with the university. Top
10. English Placement Test :
The student’s English Language Level is determined as a result of the ‘English Placement Test’ organised by the School of Foreign Languages. According to the student’s test result s/he is placed in the appropriate language learning program. Thus, the student starts studying English at the appropriate level in the School of Foreign Languages. The duration of study in the Preparatory School is dependant upon the student’s success rate, but can vary from one semester to a maximum of two years (four semesters).
If a student registers and s/he does not have any of the following qualifications, s/he must sit the English Proficiency Exam.
If a student has already sat any of the internationally recognised language exams, such as TOEFL or IELTS, then they do not need to sit any test at the university. TOEFL’s score must be at least 500 (according to the new system 173 CBT, 61 BT) and IELTS’s score must be at least 6.0. If a student has any of these internationally recognised language exams certificates then, following the School of Foreign Language evaluation, they can register for the first class. Top

13. Other Expenses :
The average monthly expenses for a student are €350.Top
14. CIU Halls of Residence :
The halls of residence are within walking distance of both the faculty buildings and the Student Centre. The Halls of Residence are of two types, the Hotel type with single, double, and four person rooms, and the Apartment type dormitories. The Apart-type dormitories are flat type dormitories with two or three bedrooms. In order to receive more information about Residence Halls applicants are advised to click on Campus Life/Dormitories. 16. Off-campus Residence :
Students who do not want to live in the university accommodation have an option of living off campus, as there are numerous homes and flats available for rent in Nicosia with rental charges varying between €200 and €400 per month. Top
17. Documents Required for Admissions to the Postgraduate and Doctorate Programs :
- A completed and signed Cyprus International University Application form for the Programs of Postgraduate or Doctorate.
- Photocopy of ID / Passport.
- Undergraduate Diploma (for Doctorate Program, Postgraduate Diploma) or graduation certificate and transcript.
- An English Proficiency Certificate such as: TOEFL (at least 500 score, according to the new system 173 CBT, 61 BT, IELTS 6.0) or equivalent English Proficiency Certificate. In the absence of TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent English Proficiency Certificate then candidates must sit the English Proficiency Exam at the university.

18. Tuition and Fee for the Postgraduate Programs :

22. Airport Pick Up Service :
During the registration period a free airport pick up service is arranged by the University and, also, at the end of the academic semester, the same service is organised in order to take students to the airport.Top
23. On campus Jobs :
Students are able to work on a part-time basis at the University depending on the availability of jobs. Top
24. Off campus Jobs :
According to the TRNC’s laws, the students can work on part-time basis up to 20 hours per week out of the University. Top
