International Office
The International Office has been established aiming to answer CIU and the TRNC related questions of foreign students, and to help them. The main objective of the Office is to help foreign students, who all come from different countries and cultures, ease their adjustment to campus life, to meet their needs, and make them feel welcome and at home in Cyprus International University. With this objective, the International Office helps to enrich the foreign students’ experiences while they try to adapt to a new life, as well as minimize problems they may encounter during the adaptation process.
The Office receives all student-related information during the students’ application to the University. Following the acceptance procedures, students are greeted at the airport, their dormitory reservations are made and, upon registration, their residency permission procedures are completed. The Office holds monthly meetings that enable continuous contact with the foreign students and, solves their problems by being receptive and reaching out them.
An orientation program is organized at the beginning of every academic semester for new students at the University, during which excursions accompanied by guides are made to all the cities, enabling the students to know more about the TRNC. The International Office also organizes year-round activities which are based on international students’ native countries, customs and habits. One of these activities is the “International Night” in which all foreign students participate. After an extensive preparation period the students have an opportunity to introduce their own countries, cultures, clothing, and cuisines, in an annual activity that is a happy reflection of the colorful cultural mosaic that exists within the University, and attracts great attention. CIU has international students from 46 different countries.
