Faculty of Education
Faculty of Education, which was established in 2006, is the most developing department in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The most concrete sample of this development is the qualified academic staff and their publications in 4 year time. In addition, the most significant proof of this is that we are considering students’ and society’s expectations respectfully by having the teaching programmes that was not established even in Turkey’s private universities but in Cyprus. In our faculty, we have the philosophy of student-centred education. There are elective courses according to our students’ preferences and interests; also courses, seminars and conferences are organized in order to make our students well equipped with modern information. The main aim of our faculty, which has seven departments, is to educate our prospective teachers in a well-equipped way of modern and contemporary knowledge and also to have individuals who are going to share the knowledge with the society. Thus the developments in their field are discussed with the students in organized courses, seminars, conferences and workshops. It is provided to graduate our prospective teachers as being participant, democratic, questioning the information or interpreting. All of the programmes are accredited by Turkish Board of Higher Education (YÖK) and The Accreditation Board of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (YÖDAK).
In the departments such as Mentally Handicapped Teaching, Turkish Language Teaching, English Language Teaching, Pre-school Teacher Education, Computer and Instructional Teacher Education, Guidance and Psychological Counselling, Department of Arts Education and Crafts Teaching, Department of Classroom Teaching, the range of students according to the number of instructors in the departments is a significant dimension and this situation is considered intensively.
