Admission Requirements


Cyprus International University does not charge the Application Fee and everyone is free to apply online. All applications for CIU programmes should be made online here

Each applicant is considered on an individual basis and applicants are expected to have satisfactory aca­demic records in order to be admitted to Cyprus International University.

Necessary Documents for prospective student applications

The copies of the following documents are required to be uploaded to online application system through CIU’s website during each student’s application process. The originals of the academic documents should be submitted to the Registrar while registration upon arrival.

1. For Undergraduate programs:

• Higher Secondary School Diploma or equivalents

• TOEFL (513 PBT / 65 IBT) or IELTS (5.5). Students without these documents should sit CIU’s English Profi­ciency Test on arrival. Students can only start their first year in departments only when CIU English School evaluates and approves their scores.

• Scanned copy of passport/birth certificate

• Fully filled and signed CIU Rules and Regulations document that could be downloaded during the online application process (please see the sample of this document)

2. For Graduate programs:

• A valid Bachelor-level Degree

• Bachelor Degree transcripts for each completed academic term/year.

• For PhD applications also;

• A valid Master-level Degree and Master Degree transcripts for each completed academic term/year.

• TOEFL (513 PBT / 65 IBT) or IELTS (5.5). Students without these documents should sit CIU’s English Profi­ciency Test on arrival. Students can only start their first year in departments only when CIU English School evaluates and approves their scores.

• Scan copy of the international passport/birth certificate

• Fully filled and signed CIU Rules and Regulations document that could be downloaded during the online application process (please see the sample of this document)

English Language Competency

An applicant without an internationally recognized English certificate will be asked to take the English Pro­ficiency Test upon his/her arrival and allocated either to the department or the appropriate level of the English Program. Students who have not met the University’s Academic English requirements can start their first year in their departments only when the Foundation School evaluates and approves their proficiency test scores.

Visa Information

The initial minimum payment must be paid via Bank Transfer in order for the CIU to issue the Unconditional Acceptance Letter allowing the student to reserve their place at the University. All flights to North Cyprus conduct via Turkey and some nationalities need to obtain a transit visa for Turkey in order to reach North Cy­prus. Usually students are required to apply to the Turkish Embassy with the acceptance letter given by the University, invoice showing payment of the tuition fee and other documents required by the Embassy.
