"Yalda Night" a Part of Iranian Culture was Celebrated at CIU
The "International Yalda Night" was organized by the International Centre of Cyprus International University (CIU).
Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri, Vice Rector Dr. Majid Hashemipour, The Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Muhittin Tuş, The Director of the Student Development and Counselling Centre, Gamze Atay, The Head of the Business Administration Department, Hasret Balcı, many academics and students participated in the event.
Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri stated that there are quite a lot of Iranian students at CIU and he noted that he is proud of hosting Iranian students. Nadiri said that it would be beneficial for CIU students for their future careers to take part in such organizations and he emphasized that they learn about cultural differences through these organizations. Rector, Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri pointed out that this cultural diversity is important not only for students but also for the CIU to discover and learn about new cultures and he celebrated Yalda's night of everyone who participated in the event.
The event, which took place in the Çevik Uraz Conference Hall, CIU started with a brief introduction film about Iranian culture and beauty and continued with Iranian music.
Yalda Night, which is considered as the longest night in Iranian culture, symbolises the birth and carries the feature of winter turning sunrise. At the night, which was celebrated with various activities, fruit and cookies and traditional dishes, which are important in Iranian culture, were served.
