"Women in the World and in the TRNC in the 21st Century" will be discussed at CIU in commemoration of Vedia Barut.
"Women in the World and in the TRNC in the 21st Century" will be discussed in commemoration of Vedia Barut as a part of the cooperation protocol signed by Cyprus International University (CIU) and the Business Women's Association. The event that will be held on Wednesday, April 25th, at CIU Çevik Uraz Central Conference Hall will be organized as three sessions as "A Special Session on Vedia Barut", "Women in Business" and "Women in Academic, Social, and Cultural Life". Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri stated that the event will be organized together with the Business Women's Association and the aim is to increase the awareness of Turkish Cypriot women in society. Rector Nadiri emphasized that they started working on creating permanent texts on women's studies and he pointed out that they aim to establish a Women's Studies Research Centre at CIU.
Şenay Ekingen, the Head of the Association of Business Women said that they started the journey with the first entrepreneur women of Turkish Cypriot education scholarship of CIU which was named as Vedia Barut and in this way their paths crossed with the university. Ekingen said "The sensitivity of CIU to our society, female and cultural-milieu perspectives have led us to organize this event in cooperation."
Ekingen said social life, problems, perspectives and values of women in the past will be talked about at the event organized in memory of Vedia Barut and she also informed that such events will continue to be organized under different topics each year traditionally.
