A Talk on "Becoming a Victim or Hero in the Modern Era" at CIU
A talk was held on "Becoming a Victim or Hero in the Modern Era" by the Psychology Club affiliated to the Social Development Coordinator of the Student Development and Counselling Centre (ÖGDM) and the Psychology Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Cyprus International University (CIU).
At the event moderated by the Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manolya Çalışır Haselden, Lecturer of the Psychology Department, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Ümit Akçakaya, the Expert Psychological Counsellor gave information to the psychology students about the personality structure of the individual and the events that occur under the unconsciousness. Akçakaya said it was clear that the sub consciousness of the individual had a creative influence and that the stories, the mythology and the story helped to create networks and he also reported that they could convey the message they wanted to convey in this context.
Akçakaya explained that all these were elements that invite the individual to a journey and he said that this journey was actually a trip to the individual's own inner world. Ümit Akçakaya emphasized that the more the individual knows his/her inner world and his/her subconscious, the more he/she changes, transforms and confronted with oneself and all of these help mature the individual.
Ümit Akçakaya also introduced his book "Awakening" and he noted that the book deals with issues such as the spiritual structure of an individual, attachment theory and different personality structures.
Signatures and photo shoots were taken after the activities at Çevik Uraz Amphi 1 and students and academics participated. Ela Altuntaş, The Psychology Club President, presented a certificate of appreciation to the Expert Psychological Counsellor Ümit Akçakaya.
