Current Affairs on Law of Football Symposium , which is going to be held by CIU Faculty of Law for the third time this year,is going to be held on 12th April.

In the symposium which is held traditionally every year, academicians,lawyers,sportswriters and professionals of sports community are going to take place. According to the statements made by the Faculty of Law, it is pointed out that football is one of the  universal sports which everybody shows interest regardless of age. In the statements,it is also pointed out that although spectators are only interested in visuals and results, it includes many problems that concerns footballers, referees, managers,press and law at universal dimensions. In the symposium,which is going to be held in order to take attention to the stated problems and provide solutions to them, many sportswriters, referees,managers,lawyers and academicians from Turkey and North Cyprus are going to take place.

The “Third Football Law Current Developments Symposium” will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 and will be formed of 4 sessions. The CIU Law Faculty gave the following information about the symposium programme: The opening day speech will be followed by the first session at 10:30. Prof. Dr. Şükran Ertürk is the session chairman while Asst. Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Akçaoğlu will discuss “Sportsmans Taxation on an International Dimension”; Assoc. Dr. Ayhan Tekinsoy will discuss “TFF’s Legal Structure and Mandates” and Asst. Prof. Dr. Serdar Nart will discuss “Tort in Sports Competitions”. The second session will begin at 11:30 and Prof. Dr. Çetin Arslan will discuss “Match fixing offenses in the criminal law dimension”; Assoc. Dr. Fatma Karakaş Doğan followed by Dr.Mert Kerem Zelyurt will present “The sociology of Football violence in Turkey”. The second session will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Nadi Günal. The first of the afternoon sessions will discuss sports and media. Prof. Dr. Çağlar Özel will be the chairman of the third session. Levent Özçelik will be discussing “Media and Football”; Lütfi Özel will be discussing “Sports and Media” and Deniz Çoban will be also discussing “Sports and Media”. The forth and last session will begin at 15:30 with Lawyer Taner Ünlü’s “Arbitral Tribunal Decisions in Football”; Cem Papila will present “Football Referees and the Legal Status”; Erkut Söğüt will be discussing “Managing in Football”; Muazzez Şaşmaz Ataçocuğu will present “Labour and Union Relations among Footballers” and Asst. Prof. Dr. Emin Cem Kahyaoğlu will be presenting “Issues regarding Football Clubs Structuring themselves as A.Ş”. The forth sessions chairman will be Lawyer Taner Ünlü.

The attendees of the symposium will be able to ask questions at the end of each session. The activity which will take place at the Cyprus International University will end on the Tuesday, 12th April at 16:30. The Law Faculty also stated that anyone concerned with the topic may attend the symposium.
