Renewable Energy Resources Board meeting was held at Cyprus International University (CIU).

Before the meeting that was hosted by Cyprus International University, Emin Bilgen, the undersecretary of Ministry of Economy and Energy, visited Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri and shared knowledge about the energy protocol signed with Turkey, interconnected electrical connection and renewable energy resources.    

Nadiri: CIU gives great importance to renewable energy resources work

Rector Prof. Dr. Nadiri stated that education, research and development and community service are the three main missions of the universities and reminded that CIU gives great importance to community service, renewable energy resources and interconnected work. Halil Nadiri highlighted that CIU comprises the experts in their fields and contributes as supervisor and consultant to the projects and work conducted by the state.


Abbasoğlu: CIU is the leader in the renewable energy sector

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Abbasoğlu, the Head of Renewable Energy Research Centre and Vice Rector, expressed that with the 1.3 MW Photovoltaic Solar Energy Plant, CIU is the leader institution in the renewable energy sector. Abbasoğlu stated that the Solar Panels are very important for raising the awareness of the public and he added that the Science and Technology Building, which is on the point of finishing, was designed as an energy efficiency building. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Abbasoğlu said “1.3 MW Photovoltaic Solar Energy Plant and Energy Efficient Science and Technology Building are important steps that were taken with the purpose of ‘Green Campus’. CIU will continue to lead these kinds of works”. 

Afterwards, in the Renewable Energy Resources Board meeting which was held under the presidency of Emin Bilgen, the undersecretary of Ministry of Economy and Energy, the recent issues were examined and the petitions and applications were considered.
