Psychology Department of CIU organized a presentation on "How Should Exam Questions Be?"
A presentation on "How Should Exam Questions Be?" presented by the Department of Psychology , Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Cyprus International University (CIU).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağatay Erten, Lecturer of the Department of Psychology gave information on the characteristics of True / False questions by explaining how a valid exam question or test item should be designed and what sort of things should be avoided.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağatay Erten said that other question or test item types will be covered at another presentation in the Spring Semester.
He emphasized that the exam or test must be valid, in other words, it is important to have a diversity of the question types to reach a sampling of questions / items that represent learning outcomes.
Students who take the course of the Psychological Assessment and Evaluation and the CIU academics attended the presentation done by the Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağatay Erten. Erten said “In order to improve the quality of the examination questions, it is necessary to consider the principles of the measurement and evaluation. He added that this will make the life of the faculty members easier and will affect the attitudes of the students positively towards examinations.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağatay Erten, Lecturer of the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, CIU also stated that the quality of examinations in general and examinations in particular will have a positive effect on the academic development of the students.
