A Project on Communication Technologies Used in the Teaching of English in Public High Schools is being conducted
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Behbud Muhammadzade, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education, Cyprus International University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolgay Karanfiller said that they had started a project on "Evaluation of the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in English Teaching in Public High Schools in the TRNC."
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Behbud Muhammadzade said the project was prepared within the scope of information and communication technologies widely used by English teachers in public high schools in the TRNC, saying "Our goal is to learn about the effective and efficient methods that English teachers in the TRNC use in their English teaching."
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Behbud Muhammadzade pointed out that the study will provide useful guidance to English education programmes, and he stated that the study aims to provide teachers working in public high schools in the TRNC with help in the effective use of new technologies in language teaching.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolgay Karanfiller mentioned that the project started in February 2018 and it is scheduled to be completed in February 2019, a literature review was conducted on the information and communication technologies used effectively in language teaching and from October interviews with English teachers in public high schools will be held to determine the situation.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Karanfiller stated that as a result of these studies, they will have a chance to evaluate the extent to which teachers use new technologies, stating "In the next stage, we are planning to organize a training process within the scope of the knowledge and competence of English teachers."
Karanfiller pointed out that a report will be prepared at the end of the project and that an evaluation will be done at the conclusion in terms of what they have learned within the scope of the project.
