A Programme called "Communication Design" was opened at CIU
A new program called "Communication Design" has been added to the Faculty of Fine Arts Design and Architecture at Cyprus International University (CIU).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Songür Dağ, the Head of the Graphic Design Department stated that the Communication Design Program, which was approved by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) and the Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination Board (YÖDAK), will begin student registration onwards from 2018-2019 academic year. Dağ said that the programme is designed according to the contemporary principles and programs and she also stated that the language of the instruction of the programme is in Turkish.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dağ mentioned that students, will be able to perceive the communication field and communication channels at this department and in this respect, by following the opportunities and technology of the new era, the ability to work with teams of creative industries will be gained. Dağ stated that students will also be able to comprehend the spirit of the era with their interdisciplinary work experience and Dağ pointed out that they will be able to develop a critical point of view.
Elif Songür Dağ, who has designed graphic design lessons in the curriculum of the program by enriching them with communication background, has prepared communication ideas, visual perception, interactive design, information architecture design, popular culture, semiotics, interdisciplinary design, animation, visual And Sound Design for Media.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dağ mentioned that students, who graduate will receive the title of communication designer, will be able to work as a researcher and illustrator at advertısıng companıes, and they can work at written and visual media companies, game development companies, TV channels, at ARGE laboratories of the technology companies, at many areas of the cinema ındustry such as museums and galleries, in areas that interactive information ıs produced as designers or visual directors.
