Prof. Dr. Tuş explained how the conquest of İstanbul changed the flow of history
Prof. Dr. Muhittin Tuş, from the Faculty of Education, Cyprus International University (CIU), announced that the 566th anniversary of conquest of İstanbul was to be celebrated. Tuş pointed out that it was a great success story. This event had changed the flow of history and İstanbul became a world center.
Tuş stated that the conquest evoked all of the state and society’s elements with active planning. The action was a large military operation. It was also a great success in terms of scientific, moral, political, social, cultural, technological and strategic aspects of a great success, he said.
Prof. Dr. Tuş said the outcomes of the conquest of Istanbul can be addressed in many different ways. The first of these was the elimination of the 2000 years old Roman Empire. Tuş stated that the same issue is also important in terms of Turkish history. Fatih Sultan Mehmet, the Ottoman Sultan conquered 2000 years old state and their last capital city that no one can demolished until that time.Prof. Dr. Muhittin Tuş explained a second issue that after the Turks invaded İstanbul, the Western world, had many attempts to get it back. The last biggest enterprise was observed in the Battle of Gallipoli said.
Tuş stated that after İstanbul was conquered by Turks, the Greek intellectuals of the Greek literature played a major role in the enlightenment of the Western civilization. The ancient thinkers provided opportunity to read and learn the original ancient Greek works, he said.
Prof. Dr. Muhittin Tuş said, “Such victories, such achievements in history, cannot happen for every statesman nor today's individual. The conquest of İstanbul and the victory of the conquest was a great success on that day and today as well.”
