Oral and Dental Health Program was Opened within the Vocational School of Health Sciences

Oral and Dental Health Associate Degree Program will start education within the Vocational School of Health Sciences, Cyprus International University (CIU).

Assist. Prof. Dr. Afet Arkut, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences stated that the Associate Degree Program in Oral and Dental Health was approved by the Higher Education Council (YÖK), the Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination Board (YÖDAK) and will begin to accept students in the 2018-2019 academic year.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Arkut stated that Oral and Dental Health Program will be in Turkish and the field courses, that are in the curriculum, will be carried out jointly with other programs at the Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Health Sciences and Vocational School of Health Sciences. Arkut mentioned that in the first semester, mostly basic science courses will be taken and later field courses will be done.

Afet Arkut announced that there will be 21 working days of compulsory summer internship at the end of the first year and she emphasized that they can do implementations at the state hospitals in the TRNC that the University has an agreement with.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Afet Arkut also stated that students, who will graduate from the program, can work together with dentists in dental clinics at public and private sectors or dental health units of hospitals if they do not have the possibility of doing their own work. In addition, Arkut stated that students can work in hospitals linked to the Ministry of Health, university hospitals, health centres and sanatoriums, oral and dental health planning centres, family medicine departments, private hospitals and outpatient clinics.

In addition to these, along with the external transition exams, at the Department of Health Management by completing 4-year undergraduate program, they can improve on in an academic field.
