Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Uludağ announced that there is a Need to Renew the Curricula of Tourism Education
Assoc.Prof.Dr.Orhan Uludağ, the Director of the School of Tourism and Hotel Management, Cyprus International University (CIU) made explanations about the renewal of curricula within the scope of tourism education and explained what can be done to educate a qualified staff that is demanded by the sector.
In this article on "Perceptions of Sector and Academy in Tourism Education", which was published in Turkey's leading online news sites, Tourism Today that all issues are related to the tourism of Turkey and the world, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Uludağ said we should not fail to follow the human resources science, tourism and hospitality industry, and technological progress and he emphasized that it is necessary to have a qualified personnel at all the times.
Lecturer, Orhan Uludağ stated that since the last quarter of the 20th century, tourism education has shown a rapid development, but when it is viewed from the sectoral standpoint, tourism education cannot meet the demands of the sector. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uludağ also stated that the human resources management science had to catch up a different point of view over time due to the ongoing staff and workflow problems in the tourism sector.
Uludağ mentioned it is essential to change the image of the tourism sector that is viewed from the outside and change the image of career in tourism and he added the fact that the tourism education had to be updated and the curriculum had to be renewed urgently.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uludag said "The current situation reveals that most of the tourism and accommodation curricula need to be updated.
Accordingly, the process of harmonization between the sector and the academy can be done by quadrant studies".
