A Graduate Program in Plant Sciences and Technology of CIU Awaits its Prospective Students
A Graduate Program in Plant Sciences and Technology, Cyprus International University (CIU) starts accepting students in the 2018-2019 Academic Year.
Prof. Dr. İbrahim Baktır, the Head of the Department of Plant Sciences and Technology stated that the program's language of instruction is English and it can be completed with or without thesis.
Prof. Dr. İbrahim Baktır recalled that the program was approved by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) and the Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination Board (YÖDAK) and he said the studies for the doctoral program were initiated.
Prof. Dr. Baktır gave information about the programme and he said the main purpose of the program is to help agricultural engineers to do their careers by doing their original work and to strengthen their international connections.
Baktır said modern agriculture studies have resulted in the introduction of a large number of new refined plants and he stated that in this context, they have been able to exploit the possibilities of optimally utilizing standard culture varieties that are traditionally cultivated.
İbrahim Baktır stated that social information about the introduction of new plant species or varieties suitable for salty conditions, drought tolerant to diseases and harmful effects, effective use of water are included in the scope of the program.
Prof. Dr. Baktır also mentioned the educational opportunities of the Graduate Program in Plant Sciences and Technology and he said the essential infrastructure is provided by the university with expert academic staff to prepare the thesis by following the new technological developments in the field. He stated that students can benefit from the universities agriculture fields and the green fields.
