Geographical Signs for Cypriot Specific Products and their Economic Returns were discussed at CIU

A seminar on "Geographical Signs and Products that are Traditionally Special" was organized by the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Cyprus International University (CIU). Leyla Mahrum, a Deputy Secretary General of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry informed participants about giving geographical signs for traditional Cypriot products.

Leyla Mahrum made explanations about the efforts to register for hellumi, zivania, molasses and jams which are the traditional products of Cyprus and introduced geographical signs to the students by giving examples from different parts of the world.

Mahrum gave the example of the economic effect that hellumi can make geographical signs and she also pointed out how could geographical signs be a marketing tool.

At the event, held at Çevik Uraz Conference Hall, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zanete Garanti presented a certificate of appreciation to Leyla Mahrum, the Deputy Secretary General of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry.
