Faculty of Law of CIU is ready for the 2018-2019 Academic Year
Faculty of Law of Cyprus International University (CIU), which was selected as the best teaching Law Faculty in 2017 in the Northern Cyprus, by the Union of Bar Associations of Turkey, is ready for the 2018-2019 Academic Year.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Şölen Külahçı, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law of the CIU stated that the Faculty started its education life with 185 students in 2010 and today they have 2 undergraduate programmes, 6 graduate programmes, 1 Ph.D. program and more than 2,000 students to be lawyers in future.
Şölen said the Faculty was approved by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) and they also have a membership of ELFA which is formed by the European Union Law Schools. Assist. Prof. Dr. Külahçı said the Faculty of Law of CIU was selected as the first teaching Law Faculty in 2017 in the Northern Cyprus by the Union of Bar Associations of Turkey as a result of the 'education quality audit'.
Küllahçı said the Faculty of Law has two undergraduate degree programs in Turkish and English and he said that the Turkish Law Program provides education to the students who come by the ÖSYM channel and settled in the TRNC. Assist. Prof. Dr. Külahçı said the language of education is English in the International Law Program and she added that foreign students and students from the TRNC, study in this program. Şölen Külahçı stated that they educate students with the devoted academic staff who are experts in their field. She also stated that they both contribute to the scientific development of the students and they also get opinions from experts in the field. Assist. Prof. Dr. Şölen Külahçı said "We are working with all our power so that our students can grow up as good lawyers with awareness that the quality of education is not just a coincidence."
