"Cultural Diversity Week" celebrated

Students from different countries offered their own dishes within the scope of the Cultural Diversity Week organised by the International Center, Cyprus International University (CIU).

Students from various countries offered their own country’s tastes as well as enjoyed a delicious cultural fusion with the establishment of stands in the student centre located on the CIU campus. 

Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri, Rector of CIU, made a speech at the “Cultural Diversity Week” event, expressing his satisfaction with the organization of such a colourful week and he recalled that CIU provides education in a multicultural environment with more than 18 thousand students from 109 different countries. Prof. Dr. Nadiri said they aim to organize a wide range of social-cultural events so that the cultural perception is perceived and shared by all the students.

Prof. Dr. Nadiri pointed out that education at the university did not take place only in classrooms or laboratories, and he mentioned that it was important to strengthen the bonds to act together and to respect each other for intellectual development.

Abdollah Mobaraki, the Coordinator of the International Center, announced that dishes from more than 21 countries were presented at the event and he said that they created the opportunity to share traditional meals with students from other cultures. Mobaraki, who touched upon on the aim of Cultural Diversity Week, emphasized that they aim to enable cultural differences to be set aside and to enable students from different parts of the world to socialize with each other.
