CIU Rector, Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri, meets Student Community Presidents
Rector of Cyprus International University, Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri, met Student Community Presidents who are representing 19,000 students from 109 different countries in the 2018-2019 Academic Year.
Rector Nadiri came together with the presidents of the student communities, who had formed groups among themsleves from many different cultures within the university, explaining that their aim is to exchange ideas on the planning of cultural and social activities this year.
Prof. Dr. Nadiri stated that they consider the members of the groups as cultural ambassadors of the countries they come from, saying that the students will show the traditions of their countries with the activities to be organized and they will talk about the culture of Northern Cyprus as well.
Nadiri stated that they had the opportunity to exchange ideas with the students at the meeting, saying “We shared what our expectations from them are and the latest positive developments in our university, and we want to form a bridge between our university and students from their own country.”
Prof. Dr. Nadiri said that in addition to the academic education of students they also try to make them learn about different cultures, pointing out that during the academic year they organize activities that promote culture almost every week.
Prof. Dr. Nadiri stated that each country has its own representative at CIU and he said that these communities should guide new students in adapting to North Cyprus and that they should support them to improve themselves.
At the end of his speech, Nadiri said that he believes that the student communities would be an important supporter of the university's work and he wished success to all the community leaders.
