CIU LECTURER MADE A STATEMENT FOR CANCER DAY
Cyprus International University (CIU) Faculty of Pharmacy Lecturer Prof. Dr. Osman Özdemir made a statement for 4th February World Cancer Day.
Recognizing that cancer is the second leading cause of death in developed countries following cardiovascular diseases, Özdemir said that the most common types of cancer in men are prostate, lung and colorectal cancer; breast, colorectal and lung cancer in women.
Prof. Dr. Özdemir said that new drugs developed in the treatment of cancer, surgery and radiotherapy in combination with the application of some cancer has survival advantage and the selection of medicines used in medical oncology specialists is beneficial in obtaining positive results. Osman Özdemir emphasized that the introduction of new medicines provides favorable results in terms of treatment to oncologists.
On the other hand,Lecturer Prof.Dr.Özdemir noted that the drugs used in the treatment of cancer are expensive and that the individual is in need of treatment facilities in the country, and that the country should create opportunities to produce these drugs with special incentives.
Cyprus International University Faculty of Pharmacy Lecturer Prof. Dr. Osman Özdemir said that referring to the side effects caused by the use of such drugs, '' Side effects that occur during the use of cancer drugs have serious effects. However, the resistance of these patients to these side effects is especially possible with new drugs. For example, the drugs used for the nausea-vomiting that help the patients to relax. "
