CIU Holds Homecoming Party for the New Academic Semester
Cyprus International University (CIU) organized a Homecoming Party to celebrate the arrival of the new academic semester and welcome its students.
The event started with the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri, the Rector of CIU, and continued with a dance club performance, playback music concert, a cheerleading club performance, DJ Jafar, a Dabka dance performance, a choir group performance, a fashion show, a poetry recital, and a breakdance show.
Prof. Dr. Nadiri stated that CIU is a growing, developing, and dynamic university, saying that 3000 new students have enrolled in the university and the number of students exceeds 18,000 from 109 different countries.
Prof. Dr. Nadiri expressed that the aim of the annual Homecoming Party is to integrate academics with students from different cultures and countries. Prof. Dr. Nadiri said the number of students and academic staff continues to grow.
Rector Prof. Dr. Nadiri defined the fall semester of the new academic year with the excitement of the beginning of a period of high energy, stating that many academic, social, cultural, and sporting activities will continue in the 2018-2019 Academic Year. Prof. Dr. Nadiri said “We want to put forth our uniqueness as CIU.”
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Nadiri stated his wish that the 2018-2019 Academic Year will be fruitful for everyone, saying that with Homecoming old friendships will come to life again, new fellowships and friendships will occur, and many CIU memories will be experienced. At the end of the Homecoming Party the students danced and had fun.
