CIU, Head of Architecture Department published a message on the "World Architecture Day"

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemil Atakara, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture and the Head of the Architecture Department  published a celebration message due to a "World Architecture Day".

On the first Monday of October, every year, in the cooperation of the United Nations (UN) and the International Union of Architects (UIA), this day is celebrated as "World Architecture Day". Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemil Atakara, said on 2nd October, this year, with the theme of "Go for Action for Climate Change! (Climate Change Action!)" celebrations took place worldwide.

On the occesion of the "World Architecture Day", Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemil Atakara the Head of the Architecture Department mentioned the significance of the "World Architecture Day which was celebrated with many events. The theme was climate change, which is an important problem due to fossil fuel consumption and the increase in building construction processes, fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The aim is to attract attention."

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atakara said at the beginning of the places, where the architecture showed itself, the cities come. He added that "Urban areas develop every day. This development brings with it immigration from the countryside resulting in creating important problems. In the resolution of these problems, the chief actor is the architecture." Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atakara emphasized that architects have responsibilities for designing by predicting urban problems and he used the expression "As architects our primary responsibility should be to produce viable solutions considering our public responsibilities."

He emphasized the need to reduce the negative effects of modern urban life on people and to develop new urban alternatives for a better environment and social life. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atakara continued: The alternative that is most emphasized is sustainable cities. These cities can be perceived differently and under the name of urban transformation, people, geography and possibilities are ignored and urban interventions and urban life are being destroyed.
