CIU Graduates, who are ASELSAN and Türksat Employees, shared their experiences with students
Emre Kocaman and Ertuğrul Saruhan, who were the graduates of the Computer Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Cyprus International University (CIU) shared their experiences with students from CIU.
Emre Kocaman, who is a CIU's former graduate and who works as a System Network and Security Expert in ASELSAN, the largest defence electronics organization in Turkey, spoke at the panel on "Graduation and Future" organised by the Computer Science Club affiliated to the Coordinator of Social Activities, Student Development and Counselling Centre, CIU. He emphasized that academic achievement is very important, however, practical knowledge is more important than academic achievement in the business world.
Ertuğrul Saruhan, who works as a software development expert at Türksat Satellite Communication Cable TV and Management Inc., shared information about the field with the students and gave advice about the troubles they might experience, the fear of not being successful after the graduation and their solutions. Ertuğrul Saruhan also informed students about the mistakes made in the sector and how to overcome the deficiencies.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Kamil Yurtkan, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Assist. Prof. Dr. Devrim Seral, The Director of the Computer Engineering Department were in the panel. Assist. Prof. Dr. Kamil Yurtkan stated that there are some ambiguities in life after the graduation and Assist. Prof. Dr. Yurtkan stated that they organized this panel in order to relieve the worries of the students.
Emre Tüfekçi, The Director of the Computer Sciences Club, said that after the graduation, the quality education offered by the university will be beneficial, thanks to the knowledge and experiences transferred by the speakers and they could take place in such institutions, "They reminded us that we should keep our targets high."
