A CIU Faculty Member Presents the Expectations from the TRNC Tourism Season 2018
Assoc.Prof.Dr.Orhan Uludağ, the Director of the School of Tourism and Hotel Management, Cyprus International University (CIU) announced that tourism is growing day by day at the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in the scope of Tourism Week of 15-22 April.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Uludağ said due to the great influence of the marketing and promotion efforts of the Ministry of Tourism to Turkey, the impact of the data in the last quarter of last year show the TRNC tourism has shown growth of over ten percent.
Uludağ stated that the industry (hotel companies) should not forget the tourists that the hotels brought themselves by their own means and he added that these promotion efforts that is not done in Europe and that are ineffective have negative effects.
Uludağ expressed that it is necessary to work on determining the priority of tourist profile in the TRNC and he also stated that it is inevitable that the determined market segment, will take a shape due to aforementioned studies.
CIU Lecturer, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Uludağ emphasized that with similar efforts compared to last years, at least a ten percent growth is expected for 2018. Uludag said due to good relationships with Russia and with the fall of the argument Europe-wide, there will be a noticeable increase in tourists in Turkey, hence, he pointed out that there may be a decrease in the number of tourists Cyprus.
Uludağ also emphasized that product diversity and geographic segmentation should be determined urgently by the TRNC Ministry of Tourism and he emphasized the importance of bringing life these studies.
