CIU Academics said that Classroom Management Affects Teaching Activities Seriously

Prof.Dr.Fatoş Silman, the Head of the Educational Sciences Department, Faculty of Education, Cyprus International University (CIU) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Avcıoğlu explained the elements necessary for classroom management teaching activities to be conducted in a healthy and effective manner within the classroom.

A book on “Classroom Management with Contemporary Approaches" edited by  Prof. Dr. Fatoş Silman and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Avcıoğlu, Academics of CIU, written by Prof. Dr. Münevver Yalçınkaya, the Head of the Basic Education Department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Hasan Eriş, the Head of the Basic Education Department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Elif Bozcan and Assist. Prof. Dr. Hale Özgit and published by Eğiten Publishing.

Prof. Dr. Fatoş Silman, the Head of the Educational Sciences Department, Faculty of Education emphasized that teachers need to be prepared for the new school year and the importance of motivating students to learn and she added that it is important to be able to communicate with the student and cope unwanted behaviors in the classroom which affect the classroom management and teaching activities.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Avcıoğlu, Lecturer emphasized the importance of creating a positive classroom environment, one of the most important elements in the classroom management. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Avcıoğlu talked about the benefits of having teachers constantly communicating with the parents and students organizing classroom's physical environment. He added that especially those with special needs, should be taken care of individually.

Prof. Dr. Fatoş Silman said sections in the book cover in detail contemporary approaches such as class management issues, student-cantered education and constructivism. Prof. Dr. Silman said the book, which deals with classroom management from very different angles, help teacher or teacher candidates to develop themselves as a class manager.
