CIU Academic’s Book on “Hollywood and England's Initiative: The Reflection of British History in American Cinema 1930-2017” published
Prof. Dr. Jonathan Stubbs, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Communication and the Head of the Department of Journalism, Cyprus International University (CIU), has published a book titled “Hollywood and England's Initiative: The Reflection of British History in American Cinema 1930-2017.”
After his first book “A Historical Film: A Critical Introduction”, Stubbs discussed the way Hollywood films represent British history and why such films are so widespread in the American film industry in his second book which was published by Bloomsbury Academic Publications in London.
Stubbs said the films reviewed in the book include ”Pride and Prejudice”, “An Arabian Lawrence ”,” My Sweet Angel ”and “Harry Potter” and he stated in his study there are detailed analyses of archival research and individual films. Stubbs added that the writing process of the book was about 18 months but the research section of the project began during the doctoral studies.
Stubbs said on the back cover of the book “Hollywood and England's Initiative: The Reflection of British History in American Cinema 1930-2017”, Prof. Dr. Eric Smoodin from the University of California stated that this publication was an important contribution to the history of film studies and film history.
