A CIU Academic Member Gave Information about Consumer Rights
Prof.Dr.Hasret Balcıoğlu, Lecturer and the Head of the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Cyprus International University (CIU) gave information about what the consumer rights are, what to do to protect these rights and how consumers can apply to the The Republic of Turkey Consumer Complaints Arbitration Committees, Consumer Courts, the Ministry of Industry and Trade Consumer and General Directorate of Protection of Competition, Provincial Directorates of Industry and Commerce within the Governorship and Consumer Information System. Balcıoğlu also made explanations about 9 items related to the importance of the Consumer Protection Week which was from March 15 to March 21.
Lecturer Balcıoğlu said that the consumption that starts with the birth of mankind is hardly felt by the protection of both the producer and the consumer. Balcıoğlu said that the role of the players settles down in the society in the course of time and she pointed out that especially the producers gain an economic strength and she said consumers are victimized due to a networking in a short time, and thus protection of the consumers is emerged. Hasret Balcıoğlu gave information about the basic and universal consumer rights articles in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Consumer Rights.
Balcıoğlu recorded that within the scope of Fulfilling Basic Needs, sheltering, food-drink, transportation and communication are accessible easily and she emphasized that all goods and services offered for sale under Health and Safety, should be at the level that is not harmful to human health.
Lecturer, Balcıoğlu also mentioned about getting information right, Training Right, Loss Removal Right, Right of Living in a Healthy Environment, Protection of Economic Interests, Selection and Representation Right, Getting Organized and the right to be heard.
Hasret Balcıoğlu emphasized that the production that is done and all kinds of services that are provided considering the health of the community, rights and the economic structure of the country will be for the peace and secure life of future generation.
Balcıoğlu said "As a consumer individual, we must be conscious of fulfilling the responsibilities and duties that fall upon us in the best possible way".
