CIU Academic gives message of unity and union within the scope of the foundation of the TRNC
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hatice Kayhan, Lecturer of the Department of Social Sciences and Turkish Education, Faculty of Education, Cyprus International University (CIU), in the statement she made on the anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)emphasized that Turkish Cypriots should be in unity and solidarity.
Kayhan stated that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was declared on November 15th, 1983 and she said “it represents the free will of the Turkish Cypriot people, the belief in living free and equal, and the right to self-determination.” Kayhan mentioned that Turkish Cypriots have been deprived of their rights and freedoms for many years, saying "The TRNC has emerged as a result of the right struggle of a society and it is an emanation that must be taken at all costs."
Kayhan said the TRNC is a product of the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot community, its determination, its commitment to the land, and its longing for independence, saying that today it is 35 years old and it continues to live despite all embargos, oppressions, and inhibitions.
Kayhan celebrated the declaration of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by saying “With its developing economy, modern foundations and institutions, with its world-class universities, with its perfect vision, the TRNC will live for many more years.”
