CIU at the 3rd International İzmir Gastronomy Tourism Fair
Cyprus International University (CIU) School of Tourism and Hotel Management, Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts attended the 3rd International İzmir Gastronomy Tourism Fair.
The Director of the School of Tourism and Hotel Management, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Uludağ, Instructor Esat Kastambollu and 13 gastronomy students participated in the 3rd International İzmir Gastronomy Tourism Fair held in İzmir Gastronomy Congress.
Esat Kastambollu said that 6 students out of 13, who attended the congress, participated in the competitions and from these students, Emre Yağlı, received a bronze medal in the individual student competition between universities and he said that Emre Yağlı, Eliz Özer and Hasan Çelik also won bronze medals in the best group category among the universities.
CIU Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department student Emre Yağlı made explanations about the competition and he noted that participation is very important in terms of representing the CIU and gaining experience. Having graduated from the kitchen section at high school, Yağlı also stated that he participated in many competitions. Yağlı said "I believe that I will have many successes throughout my university life."
Kastambollu also stated that they have found opportunity to meet with other universities and cook association presidents through the organization. Kastambollu pointed out that owing to this meeting, they established very good relations with other institutions.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Uludağ, The Director of the School of Tourism and Hotel Management announced that they will frequently attend competitions similar to this to improve the skills that the students have gained to higher levels.
