"The Chamber of Electrical Engineers Information Seminar" was held at CIU
"The Chamber of Electrical Engineers Information Seminar" was organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Cyprus International University (CIU).
At the seminar moderated by the Assist. Prof. Dr. Kamil Yurtkan, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Mert Girgen, the previous Head of the Electrical Engineers Chamber (EMO) and the Board Member of the Electrical Engineers Chamber said the Electrical Engineers Chamber’s members hold Electrical Engineer and Electrical Higher Engineer who are eligible to do their professions and it is operated according to the law.
Girgen stated that electrical engineers in the TRNC should be registered to the chamber in order to do any professional application and he added that this record needs to be renewed constantly. Mert Girgen also mentioned that EMO supervises the professional activities of the chamber members and he pointed out that they approve the projects that abide with the law.
Girgen said that EMO controls the suitability of electrical equipment and hand tools for the quality, safety and security of electrical equipment imported to the TRNC according to the national standards.
In the seminar, where the production and transmission of electricity from the most up-to-date topics in Northern Cyprus was discussed, information was given about the country’s electrical installation and system. In the seminar, where the renewable energy sources were discussed, information on solar, hydraulics, wind and bio fuels as well as other renewable energy sources and application technologies were given.
Girgen suggested students that when they start to work, they should only be project-oriented and he also recommended that they should go out to the field and gain experience.
The event ended with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to Mert Girgen by Assist. Prof. Dr. Kamil Yurtkan, the Vice Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Assoc. Prof. Dr Mehmet Kusaf, the Head of the Department of Electronics Engineering.
