Asst. Prof. Dr. Gençalp published a message within the scope of World Health Week
Within the scope of the World Health Week, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nimet Sevgi Gençalp, a lecturer of Department of Nursing, pointed out that the individual, who is the smallest unit in a society, should be healthy to have healthy societies.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Gençalp said the World Health Day is celebrated on 7th April every year due to the establishment of the World Health Organization (WHO) on 7th April 1948.
Gençalp explained that WHO was founded to enable all countries around the world to live in healthier conditions and defined the concept of health as an absolute state of well-being spiritually, physically and socially.
The theme of the 2019 World Health Day Week was “Universal Health Coverage; everyone, everywhere” and this year's campaign will be carried out with the slogan of “Health for All”.
Gençalp pointed out that the campaign aims to ensure that all individuals receive the health services they need without facing financial hardship. She said health promotion, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, temporary care and basic health services will be provided.
She announced that a report is prepared annually by WHO that includes 5-year plans and solutions for threats. Air pollution, humanitarian crises and individuals who refuse to be vaccinated are among the threats that will endanger human health globally in 2019.
