"An Accessible" University Study for the Students with Special Needs from the CIU

A seminar on "Attainable and Accessible University for All" was organized by the School of Health Sciences, Cyprus International University (CIU) to initiate a work on the path to accessible university.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Neslihan Koçer, Lecturer, Hülya Özbeşer, an Expert Architect, Safiye Özaltıner and a Specialist Lawyer, Öncel Polili participated as speakers to the seminar held at the CIU Çevik Uraz Centre Conference Hall.

A Lecturer, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neslihan Koçer stated that the aim of the seminar was to evaluate the accessibility, environmental and architectural obstacles and necessary regulations from the point of view of physical and legal suitability.

Lecturer, Hülya Özbeşer said that they aimed to raise awareness about what should be done as a university in order to eliminate the difficulties that the society imposes on the disabled people with the seminar on "An Attainable and Accessible University for All".

An Expert Architect, Safiye Özaltıner gave information about the purpose of to increase an awareness about the disabled people and find solutions to the architectural problems faced by the obstacles in our life.

A Specialist Lawyer, Öncel Polili stated that the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities is aimed to be taken as a basis and to ensure that the rights of these people are followed.
