The aim of this course is to give the students an understanding about the computer fundamentals such as type of computers, hardware, software, network, web, Internet, computer security and other emerging technologies such as e-commerce, blogs, wiki, RSS, social networking, and Google applications, health concerns, green computing, and accessibility. Students will understand many of the key ethical, legal and social issues related to information technology and how to interpret and comply with ethical principles, laws, and regulations. TURKISH I:WRITING COMMUNICATION
Basic features of written language and written communication. Written expression; paragraph types (entry-development-result paragraphs). The stages of written expression (written composition). In the written expression: (a) ways to base thought (identification, sampling, comparison, witnessing, quoting, using statistics); (b) forms of expression (explanatory, argumentative, descriptive, narrative) Text types: (a) informative texts (petition, business letter, news, decision, announcement / advertisement, minutes, report, official papers, scientific papers) (article), article, corner article, conversation, criticism, diary, memoir, travel letter, biography, autobiography, introduction, special letter etc. (b) literary texts (poetry, story, novel, play, essay, letter), studies on examples, free and planned writing practices in different types of writing, grammar (morphology, syntax-summary information), spelling (spelling) information, correction of language and expression mistakes in written texts.
The course introduces students with basic speech patterns at the elementary level. Through listening students will identify different sound rhythms and practice pronunciation of letters, words and phrases. Through speaking students will identify different register and use the given language in an appropriate way. In addition students will be able to define themselves or others, answer questions in the Present Simple tense, use the prepositions of place, and talk about their daily routines. Through reading students read paragraphs and simple texts to improve their general comprehension of the passages, and answer the given comprehension questions. Through writing, students will be able to compose guided,controlled paragraphs in the Present Simple tense, and recycle the obtained new vocabulary to produce their own sentences.
MODERN TURKISH HISTORY
In this course, the basic concepts of the course, internal and external factors leading to the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire, Ottoman reform and reform efforts, Tripoli and Balkan Wars, World War I, Mondros Armistice, peace treaties at the end of the war, the organizations established during the period of armistice, led by Mustafa Kemal Beginning of the War of Independence, Havza and Amasya Circulars, Congresses, National Pact, Opening of the Grand National Assembly, riots, the establishment and wars of the regular army, external relations and treaties of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the Organization Law, the Battle of Sakarya and the Great Offensive The Peace Treaty, the Lausanne Peace Treaty and the abolition of the sultanate, the capital of Ankara, the proclamation of the republic, the 1924 constitution, multi-party system, secularization and modernization in law, nationalization in education and culture, socio-economic innovations, Atatürk's 6 principles, Atatürk's foreign policy , İnönü period and II. YDL102 is the continuation of YDL101. The course integrates the four main skills at a higher elementary level for students. Through recessive skills, which are listening and reading, students identify different sound rhythms and practice the pronunciation of letters, words and phrases. Also, by reading higher level paragraphs and texts, students infere the meaning of new words by using their existing vocabulary. Through productive skills, which are speaking and writing, students identify different register and use the given language in an appropriate way. Furthermore, students use the Present Continuous and Past Simple tenses to participate in basic dialogues and daily exchanges, and express themselves effectively. Also, through writing, students produce their own sentences by recycling the obtained new vocabulary in guided, controlled paragraphs they compose.
This course aims to teach concepts concerning computer assisted education, its basic theories, implementation methods. It will introduce Microsoft Word and how to use the most common formatting and review tools needed to create a Word Document that can be printed. This course also introduces the student to PowerPoint, which is a Microsoft application that lets one create professional computerized presentations. The presentations can include slides, animations, graphics, drawings, and more. Students will be taught to building and editing worksheets, formatting and printing worksheets, sorting, filtering, and analyzing list data; working with formulas and functions, and charting in MS Excel. TURKISH II:ORAL COMMUNICATION
The main aim of this course is to provide the students with the knowledge of communication; understanding, listening, self-expression, understanding speech and communication through body language. Basic features of oral language and verbal communication, basic principles of good speech; The basic features of a good speaker such as the preparation of the necessary information in the social life after the preparation of the unprepared and prepared speech, the transfer of ideas towards the other side of the information will be given to students with practical studies. Studies on speech samples and oral expression practices will be done. At the end of the course, students will be able to manage communication conflicts as well as to demonstrate interpersonal communication skills in group discussions.
The aim of this course is to explain basic principles of chemistry to students of hair beauty and services department and to give information about different types of materials, molecules and compounds, to gain problem solving ability by using basic principles of chemistry. The topics are: Measurements and properties of matter; Atoms, Molecules and Ions: Atomic theory, Atomic structure and mass number; Molecules, ions, chemical formulas; Chemical Compounds: Type of chemical compounds and formulas, Nomenclature of compounds, Mole concept and composition of chemical compounds; Definition of pH, importance of pH for Living organisms, Acids and Bases; Organic compounds and their structures; Carbohydrates, Amino acids and Proteins; Dyes, Hair Dyes, Chemical Structure and Properties of Hair; Chemical Composition of Soap, Shampoo and Makeup Materials.
