School of Health Sciences
History and Development
The School of Health Sciences, Cyprus International University started education in 2015-2016 academic year by taking students to Nursing Department. In our School, the Department of Nursing (2015-2016), Nutrition and Dietician (2016-2017), Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Child Development and Health Management Departments (2017-2018) were opened respectively with YÖK and YÖDAK approval. In the forthcoming semester’s, the School of Health Sciences will continue to develop and grow together with the increase of new departments / programs, which will have priority in health care services, and the number of students.
Mission and Vision
In line with the aims of the university; the school provides healthy / sick individuals, families and community preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services at national and international level; take a role of educator, practitioner, manager, researcher; in addition to do scientific studies for the development of the community and the profession, train a health care personnel that has qualifications such as good communicator, critical thinker, problem identifier and solver, user of scientific technology to do scientific work for community and professional development.
The School aims to provide education and do research at international and national level, which has a strong institutional culture and strong identity and a qualified expert faculty members in their field and which combines science and community service, which has a privileged place in health sciences, uses technology in health field and educates graduates preferred by health institutions that can perform health duties successfully everywhere in the world.
At our campus in Nicosia we have offices and laboratories at the School of Health Sciences. Theoretical knowledge and technical skills of the students are developed by well-known school members in the field before going to actual application areas such as hospitals. There are Nursing, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nutrition, Anthropometry First and Emergency Aid, Dialysis, Anaesthesia, Operating Room Services Audiometry laboratories in our School. In these laboratories, students’ skills are developed with simulators, models, tools and equipment. Our students reinforce their knowledge and skills in advanced hospitals and practice areas during summer internships. Training and implementation opportunities are provided within the framework of bilateral agreements the CIU has made with universities abroad. Opportunities are created for our students to work in partnership with Civil Society Organizations. Accreditation studies have also begun in departments where there are graduates. Students can take part in activities during their education in our faculty Health Club and other student communities. Our students have the opportunity to participate in various scientific, social and cultural events at national and international level, such as various meetings, workshops, conferences, symposiums organized by our students and other departments for individual development.
